There is a decent amount of parking at the Ben Howard Boat Launch.  But if you are trying to coordinate with a group.  You might try parking at Lewis Street Bridge in Monroe and carpooling to Ben Howard.

 Representatives will be on hand from Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics.  The group will give a demo and then put a rod in your hand to try.    

We have been playing around with these heads for some time now.  On steelhead outings these fly lines play a vital roll in covering small water with a swung fly.   

Many smaller rivers like the higher coastal streams of the Oregon, Washington, California and British Columbia are perfect for single-hand spey techniques. 

The OPST Commando Head is a short (12 through 18 feet) and are best cast on 9 foot trout rods on up to two-handed rods around 12 feet.  You can take your standard trout fishing rod and create a really fun new setup.

Stop by, email or give us a call to discuss the fishery that you are looking to target.  From trout to tarpon, we have gear of all sizes and budget.  And if you are local let's go cast some rods.  If possible, try the rod before you invest in a new fly fishing gear.  Typically we spend around 15-20 minutes casting rods so you can get a sense of what each rod feels like.  Our sales staff are also fly casting instructors, so expect a tip or two on how to improve your cast. Product Review: Scott Radian Fly Rods

Scott Fly Rods has generated some serious buzz about their new offering, the Radian, and we have them in the shop!

The overall idea was to make a fast, powerful rod that doesn't feel like a broomstick. Something with the responsive feel to fish all day long and actually enjoy the act of casting. A balance of "fast" and "feel".

Verdict's in: Scott nailed it with the Radian.

 The construction basically increases recovery speed without adding materials using some high-techy super-rad techniques like ReAct, X Core and FiberFuse technology. This translates into an incredibly nuanced feel with a ton of power that spans the techniques you'll use during the calendar year of a Puget Sound angler.

Equipped with an incredibly beautiful reel seat (burled box elder wood, 5 wt.), awards for Best in Show at the recent IFTD industry show and premium Portuguese cork in a full-wells style grip, the Radian is a stunner to be sure.

Come in and check them out! You'll notice the 5 wt. reel seat straight off and then have to go cast.

A great crossover saltwater for that occassional trip to the flats.

(Local application) Uh, Scott said it pretty well! A local big beach rig for coho, a rod for winter steel, lings, big bass poppers, chums and migrating to the flats for bonefish.
